kodama.project

about

Founded in May 2026, kodama.project was created with a simple hope: that Japan’s local traditions, craftsmanship, and culture will continue to thrive for the next 100 years and beyond.
Our mission is to connect exceptional local Japanese brands with the world, sharing products and stories that embody lasting value. We seek out makers who create things with care, integrity, and a long-term vision—things we believe deserve to be enjoyed for generations.

Our first focus is Japanese tea from Shizuoka.
Tea was first introduced to Japan as a medicinal drink, valued for its health-giving properties and believed to promote longevity. Over time, it evolved into a source of comfort, relaxation, and daily enjoyment. Across the country, each region developed its own tea culture and traditions, creating unique ways to appreciate this remarkable plant.

Shizuoka, Japan’s leading tea-producing region, has long been at the heart of Japanese tea culture. Today, however, the industry faces significant challenges, including a shortage of future growers, declining tea prices driven by imported products, and an increasing number of abandoned tea fields.

Through kodama.project, we hope to introduce more people around the world to the beauty, craftsmanship, and heritage of Japanese tea. By supporting local producers and sharing their stories globally, we aim to help ensure that this gift from the land can continue to flourish for generations to come.
